YUCCA VALLEY - Colonel Paul Cook (ret.) announced that the Hi-Desert Star newspaper has endorsed him in his race for California's 8th Congressional District. The newspaper made the following statement in support of his candidacy:
"Cook, a Republican who lives in Yucca Valley, is asking voters to return him to Congress for the third time, and we have good reason to want to see him back in D.C. His experience in the U.S. Marine Corps gives him the practical knowledge and passion to serve the country on the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees. It also makes him ideal to represent the 8th District, with the Twentynine Palms Marine base and two other military installations.
"In his years in Congress, Cook has been the author or cosponsor of legislation to help veterans find jobs, get better health care and access government services.
"He is also a former government professor with experience and understanding of how government works. He has been a practical leader who has focused his efforts on helping the people of his district."
Cook stated, "I'm happy to have the endorsement of the Hi-Desert Star. Their word means a lot in the Morongo Basin, and I'm proud to have represented the area for so long."
