by Paul Cook 6. June 2016 13:33

APPLE VALLEY - Colonel Paul Cook (ret.) announced that the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has endorsed him in his race for California's 8th Congressional District. The NBPC released the following statement:

"On behalf of the 16,500 Border Patrol Agents whom the National Border Patrol Council represents, we are pleased to announce our endorsement for Congressman Paul Cook of California's 8th District.

"Because of the Congressman's commitment to border security and the Agents who risk their lives every day to keep our borders safe, the National Border Patrol Council is happy to stand behind Congressman Cook and endorse him for re-election."

Cook stated, "The National Border Patrol Council walks the walk and talks the talk. These are the men and women out there every day, doing the real work on our national borders. I've always stood for real border security, and a seasoned group like the NBPC can sniff out the difference between someone who truly supports them and will help secure our borders, like myself, and someone who shouts about border security merely for publicity and attention. I'm absolutely honored to have their endorsement. Together, when I'm elected to Congress, we can keep moving toward improved border security."

"Cook, a Republican who lives in Yucca Valley, is asking voters to return him to Congress for the third time, and we have good reason to want to see him back in D.C. BISHOP - Colonel Paul Cook (ret.) announced that the Inyo County Republican Party has endorsed him in his race for California's 8th Congressional District. The Inyo County Republican Party released the following statement:

"The Inyo County Republican Party is proud to endorse our conservative Republican Representative, Colonel Paul Cook (ret.). Colonel Cook is dedicated to protecting our liberty and will fight to ensure that the people of Inyo County, not Washington DC, has the leading voice in determining how public lands are used. He's voted to cut budgets for Congress, stop Syrian and Iraqi refugees, and bring government spending under control. We're proud to support his election."

I'm proud to earn the endorsement of the Inyo County Republican Party, and I vow to uphold the conservative values they hold dear. And I'll continue making federal land issues a priority. Locals deserve the strongest voice in determining public land uses -- just as I've done with my bill for Alabama Hills -- and I'll continue fighting the unelected bureaucrats in Washington who want to dictate to rural areas perverse interpretations of 'right and wrong.'"

National Rifle Association endorses Paul Cook for Congress

by Paul Cook 4. May 2016 18:02

APPLE VALLEY - Colonel Paul Cook (ret.) announced that the National Rifle Association (NRA) has endorsed him in the race for California's Eighth Congressional District. Cook is the only candidate in this race to earn the NRA's endorsement, and this marks the third time Cook has garnered it (2012, 2014, and 2016). The NRA released the following statement on Cook:

On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse your candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in the Republican primary in California’s 8th Congressional District.

As a decorated veteran who spent 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps fighting for our freedom and as a Congressman with a consistent and proven voting record on Second Amendment issues in the U.S. House of Representatives, you have earned an i 4A” rating from NRA-PVF for this primary election. An “ A” rating is reserved for a solidly pro-gun legislator who has supported NRA positions on key votes and issues.

Thank you for consistently opposing all attempts to ban lawfully-owned firearms, magazines, and ammunition, and standing strong against Hillary Clinton, President Obama and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control agenda. We also appreciate your recent opposition to President Obama’s anti-gun Executive Actions and for signing a letter to the Obama administration opposing its recent attempt to ban commonly used ammunition for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15.

Furthermore, we applaud your vote for legislation that would prohibit the Obama Administration from intimidating banks into refusing financial services to lawful ammunition and firearms dealers.

In addition, we commend your cosponsorship of H.R. 986, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2015. This bill would ensure that law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry their concealed firearms in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry.

Finally, we are grateful for your vote for the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, a bill that would positively impact sportsmen throughout California and the country by protecting traditional hunting ammunition, opening additional land access for hunting and fishing, and allowing firearms to be legally carried on land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Congratulations on your “ A” rating and endorsement, and thank you for your steadfast support of the Second Amendment. Good luck with your campaign and we look forward to our continued relationship.

Cook stated, "I'm honored to earn the NRA's endorsement for the third consecutive time. They're a principled organization and a tremendous force for 2nd Amendment rights in our country. During my 26 years in the US Marine Corps, firearms were part of my life. I respect their power, I handle them responsibly, and I consider myself proficient. In Congress, with the help of the NRA, I'll continue to be a steadfast advocate for the rights of gun owners, and I'll never waiver in my defense of the 2nd Amendment."
